I had the privilege of visiting St Michael's Home care home, where I documented the lives of elderly residents through film photography as part of a project submitted to the Sony Student Competition on the theme “Together.”
This experience was both emotional and eye-opening. Spending time with the residents, observing their routines, and hearing their stories offered a powerful perspective on connection, vulnerability, and the meaning of togetherness in later life.
Through my images, I aimed to capture the raw, unfiltered reality of daily life in the care home, moments of quiet reflection, companionship, and resilience. Shooting on film allowed me to slow down and be fully present, creating a more intentional and honest visual narrative.
This project has deeply influenced how I approach storytelling and reinforced the importance of human connection in my work.
I’m grateful to everyone at St Michael’s for their openness and trust in allowing me to share a glimpse into their world.
